The first full week of the year was a busy one! So much going on… The IceCube detector was well behaved, but there were still several maintenance items to take care of. One of the maintenance tasks involved the IceACT camera on the roof of the ICL, and while they were working, they discovered one of the Winston cones had fallen out of its spot. They had spares and were able to fix it, and now some of us have learned a new term. And what a nice repair—good as new. Besides work, there was a community cook day (grilled cheese on the menu) and the South Pole marathon. They have both full and half marathons, which are intensive runs on their own, but even more so in that environment. Both winterovers Josh (at the top) and John (at the bottom) gave the half marathon a whirl.
