Last week we saw a sun halo, and a few weeks back we saw the newly inaugurated South Pole marker. Lo and behold, they have come together. Great shot!
This week, the last of the summer IceCubers have departed, leaving the winterovers behind with a now dwindling station population, currently at around 140 people. Soon it will be down to just the few lone souls remaining throughout the winter. At the ICL, the last crate was moved out, and the cargo ramps were removed. Final winter preparations are underway.
